Yes, you stay in control the whole time. Hypnosis isn't sleep or unconsciousness. It's a relaxed, focused state, like being absorbed in a good book. You can hear me, you can talk, you can stop anytime. I can't make you do anything you don't want to.
No. That's stage hypnosis, which is entertainment. What I do is clinical hypnotherapy. Completely different. No party tricks, no embarrassment, just a focused state where we can shift patterns your conscious mind has been struggling with.
Around 95% of people can. The biggest predictor isn't intelligence or willpower, it's willingness to engage. If you're skeptical but open, you'll be fine. If you're actively trying to resist it, you won't get much from it. Most people who think they "can't be hypnotised" are surprised how easy it actually is.
Most clients describe it as deeply relaxed, like the state right before falling asleep. You're aware of everything, you just feel calm and focused. Some clients feel light, some feel heavy, some don't feel "different" at all and are surprised when we're done. All of those are normal.
Hypnotherapy is one of the safest therapeutic modalities. Side effects are rare and mild, mostly feeling deeply relaxed afterwards. I'm trained to work safely with trauma, anxiety, and complex presentations, and I refer on if a presentation needs a different specialism.
Talk therapy works mostly with the conscious mind. Hypnotherapy works with the subconscious, where habits, beliefs, and patterns actually live. CBT is brilliant for thought work. Hypnotherapy is better for shifting the underlying patterns that keep generating those thoughts. Many clients use both at different points.
Most clients see real shifts in 3 to 6 sessions. Simple phobias often take 1 to 2. Deep-rooted patterns can take longer. We'll discuss expectations on the free intro call so you know what you're committing to before you book anything.
First we talk for 15 to 20 minutes about where you are, what's coming up between sessions, what we're working on. Then I guide you into a relaxed state for 30 to 40 minutes of the actual hypnotherapy work. We finish with a few minutes to integrate. Sessions are 75 to 90 minutes total.
Yes, about half my clients are online via video. It works just as well as in-person for most issues. The only exception is intensive phobia desensitisation, where I prefer in-person. Online clients are welcome from nationwide.
Honest answer: hypnotherapy isn't 100%. If after 3 sessions we're not seeing meaningful movement, I'll either adjust the approach or refer you to someone better suited. I'd rather you get the right help than be my client forever.
Pricing is straightforward and I will walk you through it on the free call. Most issues take 3 to 6 sessions, a single phobia is often just one or two, and there are no packages pushed on you.
Yes. Sessions can be paid one at a time, or you can book a package upfront. If cost is a barrier and you genuinely want this work, talk to me on the call.
48 hours notice for a full refund or reschedule. Less than 48 hours and the session is charged. Same-day cancellations only refunded in genuine emergencies, my judgment.
Only if you tell them. I keep notes for my own clinical practice but they're confidential and never shared without your written consent.
